How to post a video on Instagram without it being a reel? [2 Workarounds]

Instagram have made it official that all videos are gonna be reels now.

Latest Instagram update, there is not possible to post as normal video on mobile. you can post if you have multiple files to upload inthe same post .

Video can be posted as normal if you upload via desktop or carousel posts (multiple video/photos posts).

With today’s update, users will still be able to upload their non-Reels videos in the same way as before — by clicking on the plus sign (+) in the top-right corner of the Instagram home page and selecting “Post.” Videos can be up to 60 minutes in length

Instagram still allows you to post video, but i think it turns into a reel when it’s less than 3 minutes.

it’s all good, Instagram reel is quite powerful, I remember having over 10k likes on a video i posted as a reel.

so it’s nothing to worry about, if you want your video to not be a reel, make sure it’s longer than 3 minutes, that way you’ve it as a normal video

Method 1: Upload From Browser Instead Of App

Use browser or desktop to upload your videos without being converted to reels. Go to instagram.com on Chrome, login, then click upload. Use browser instead of the app.

Method 2: Carousel Post

Upload multiple video/photo slide post. Add a photo with video to prevent being a reel.

The only workaround is to post the video in a carousel (multiple slide).
